Appoint temporary housing regulator in Mumbai: Consumer body asks govt
The Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP) has demanded that the state government set up the Housing Regulatory Authority immediately.
MGP chairman Sirish Deshpande said, “There are ever-increasing complaints of flat buyers in Maharashtra against builders. Secondly, with the passing of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Act by the Centre, the Maharashtra Housing Regulatory Act, 2014, stands repealed.”
Real estate Act: Home buyers to be hit as Centre fails to notify key sections
Citizens will have to wait for at least a year to realise the benefits of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Act.
The Act came into force on May 1, but only with some sections, as the others have yet to be gazetted. As per the gazette notification, sections 2, 20-39, sections 41-58, sections 71-78 and sections 81-92 of the Act have come into force. Developers and builders in the state need not register with the housing regulatory authority, as section 4 of the Act has not been notified by the central government.
2,508 cities selected under PM’s scheme for affordable housing
As many as 2,508 cities in 26 states have been selected under ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ for providing affordable houses to the urban poor, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Create exit plan for Sector 107 home buyers: Noida Authority to builders
The Noida Authority on Wednesday directed the builders of various projects in Sector 107 to formulate an exit plan for the buyers who had invested in the 5,000 apartments in the sector. The builders are supposed to submit the plan before May 25.

Time-frame for depositing TDS on sale of property extended by Income Tax department
As a relief to property buyers, the Income Tax department has extended the time period for depositing TDS on the sale of property by 23 days.
Anyone buying real estate worth more than Rs 50 lakh has to deduct 1% of the sale price of the property before paying the seller.
